Texas Serenade – Fiddle Tune a Day – Day 149

One of the frustrating things about doing a new fiddle tune every day is that I often don’t get to spend as much time as I would like preparing a tune for the day. In fact, sometimes, the first time I played the tune was for the camera, and it’s done in one take. The consequence is that sometimes I think of a great lick, or a great verse that I wish I had played in the tune five or ten minutes after I finish recording it.

This is one of those times. I had a really cool verse that I like to play in Texas Serenade, and I didn’t even think about it during the recording, but as soon as I put my fiddle up, and got ready to upload, it all came streaming back into my brain.

Oh well, that is just part of the game. Fiddle Tune a Day on the whole has been an awesome experience so far. It’s been lots of fun, and has opened up some interesting doors. I can’t wait to see what the rest of the year has in store for me.

By the way, Shawn Howe plays the coolest version of Texas Serenade that I have ever heard. (I don’t see any recordings of it online, but if you get a chance, ask him to play it.)

Hi, hi, hi!!! Great stuff! Are you heading for Europe in the future? We just have to get together and play a bunch of tunes. I play a version of "Forth Worth Rag" taught by Norman Solomon. All the very best from a frozen Swede. Cheerio! Anders

Hi Anders! Thanks. I would like to make a trip to Europe sometime soon, but I don't have any plans to right now. That sounds like a lot of fun! All the best from a frozen Coloradoan. Thankfully it's thawing out here today – we hit 50 degrees farenheit after a couple of frigid weeks.
