Stretch it Out! – Quick Tip

Find more Quick Tips and lessons by Vi Wickam and other teachers at https://www.myTalentForge.com.

Hi everybody, Vi Wickam here for another myTalentForge.com Quick Tip of the Week.

This week is a stretch. This stretch is great for string players of all types.

It also works if you use a computer, if you play the piano, the guitar, the fiddle, the mandolin, the cello, the bass- any of those instruments, and probably saxophone. Anything where your arms are in front of you a lot.

It tends to make our pectoral muscles shorten and tighten up and that’s not good for us in the long term to be hunched over like this.

So this is a stretch- I do it every morning when I get out of the shower as a stretch. I use my towel and I take the towel and I bring it back behind my head.

Feel where the tension starts to happen in your chest and across the front of your arms. Stretch here for about at least 30 seconds up to a minute, until you feel your hands start going to sleep- that’s probably a good time to stop.

Use this stretch as a daily routine to make your front side a little more stretched out.

You can also swing back and forth a little bit. It really helps keep your front side stretched out.

So that’s your Quick Tip for this week. Stretch out your pectorals and your fronts of your shoulders, and you will find more balance in your life.

Have a fantastic week! See you next time.
