Sound Big with Bathroom Acoustics

Hi, I’m Vi Wickam! And this is a my Talent Forge Quick Practice tip of the Week!

I call it- bathroom acoustics.

Now, that sounds kind of funny, but if you’ve ever played your instrument in the bathroom…

Now, if you’re a piano player, I totally understand why you haven’t. But if you play something small enough to get into the bathroom, give it a try.

It gives you this big, echoey, fun sound because it’s a small room with lots of hard surfaces.

And you really can sound good playing in a bathroom!

So, sometimes, take a break, go stand in the bathroom, and use the mirror- that’s another great thing about bathrooms, is that they have a mirror.

You can see yourself, and you can see where you’re tensing something up, or where you’re lifting your shoulder, or any of those kind of things that you know better than.

Maybe you’re doing [this, instead of this…].

All sorts of things you can see in the mirror! But, the acoustics of a bathroom are awesome!

Sometimes when I’m at a fiddle contest, I will go into the bathroom to warm up, just because of the bathroom acoustics.

So, give it a try!

Leave a comment below- let me know what you think about bathroom acoustics.
