Hi, I’m Vi Wickam, and this is a myTalentForge Quick Tip of the Week.
This one may seem pretty straight forward and obvious for some of you. But for some of you, it might be something you haven’t tried before. Even if you’ve thought about it.
So don’t just try it- go do it! Get your phone out and record yourself.
I’m living by example here- I’m recording myself right now. But record yourself when you’re playing, and play it back and watch it.
There’s a good chance that the things that you thought sounded fine when you didn’t record yourself, you’ll hear things you didn’t hear while you were playing.
So this is a great tool for increasing your awareness of your playing, your awareness of the nuances that you could be bringing to a piece, your awareness of mistakes you’re making…
Just an awareness that can help you improve.
So that’s my Quick Tip for this week! I hope you have a great week! And I’ll see you next time!
