Hi, I’m Vi Wickam, and this is a quick tip of the week!
Make it a habit. Now this is something I fail at all the time, but it’s important and when I do it I become a much better player. It’s making a daily habit of practicing.
It doesn’t matter weather you practice for a half hour or an hour. If you’re picking up your instrument daily, making it a point that everyday you’re going to pick up your instrument, and you’re going to play something… You will become a better player.
You will see those exponential little bits of practice time adding up. Those little bits of, “I’m going to sit down and I’m going to at least play one song every day”… That will turn into five songs or ten songs, or practicing scales, or practicing arpeggios, or practicing bowing exercises.
And by the time you’re done, you’ll be like “hey! I thought I was only going to play for 5 minutes, but I played for 45 or an hour!” Now, that said, don’t over do it. You don’t want to play for two hours and lose your focus.
When you’re practicing, you want to be tip-top focus shape. That’s when you’re going to have the most improvement. Practice everyday. But practice fun!
Have a good week!
