Hi I’m Vi Wickam and this is another [my] Talent Forge Quick Tip of the Week!
Now, we’ve talked about how our right hand and left hand are connected in the past. This is just a little corollary to that idea.
It applies specifically to bowed-stringed instruments, but it also applies to pickers, as well.
A lot of times we’ll be having trouble with a passage that’s difficult for the left hand. And we’re really focused on our left hand, we’re focused on the difficulty here… […].
And, what we don’t realize is that if we take our focus off of our left hand for just a minute and try using a little more bow with our right hand, or pick a little more freely with our right hand…
You know, just add that freedom – throw the bow a little bit. Not literally, not letting go, but let go of holding onto the bow.
Don’t be trying to control the bow so much. Let go with the bow, use a little more bow, and all of a sudden that left hand skill you’ve been struggling with becomes a whole lot easier.
And that my friend is today’s [my] Talent Forge Quick Tip of the Week. I’ll see you next time!
