Early on in Fiddle Tune a Day, I put out a request for original tunes that I could play as part of Fiddle Tune a Day. Linda Relph was the first to respond. She sent me sheet music to this cool reel in F – Incandescent Reel.
It’s pretty tricky, and it fits together so nicely. All of the transitions fit perfectly for where they take you in the instrument to get to the next part. And it has a structure that’s kind of like a palindrome…
Linda also gave me permission to include the sheet music here: Incandescent Reel Sheet Music
I didn’t work it up right away, but I wanted to make sure I fit it into my year of fiddle tunes, so here it is!
Yet another facet of fiddle, someone writes their own excellent tune. Thanks to Linda Relph for composing Incandescent Reel and Vi for bringing it to life.
You’re welcome, Johan. I had a number of people submit tunes to me to play for fiddle tune a day, but this is one of the few I recorded. Tune writing is definitely a whole other facet of music.
Lovely musical performance !
