Hi I’m Vi Wickam and this is your myTalentForge.com Quick Tip of the Week!
Some of you would like to know how to have more music friends, to spend more time playing music, have encouragement, and relationships around music.
One of the best ways I can think of to do that is to host a jam session!
Hosting a jam session is not quite as easy as it sounds. Some of you may think, “wow that seems kind of hard!”
It’s not as hard as it sounds, either.
If you want to host a jam session, let your musician friends know that you’re hosting a jam session… And that they should come to your house and bring their instruments, and that you’ll provide the food.
And you will have more musicians there than you can shake a stick at. Because if there’s one thing musicians like, it’s food!
So, have some fun, let your musician friends know in advance- give them a week or two of notice if you can.
And say, “Hey! I’m going to have a party at my house- we’re going to have a little jam session. It’s low-key, it’s informal, and it’s going to be a lot of fun. And I’ve got some good players showing up!”
So get some good players to show up, and have a great time! Get to know these other players.
Jam sessions are all about fun. There’s nothing competitive, there’s nothing intimidating.
You can go to the jam session and you can just hang out! You’re hosting the jam session, you don’t have to play if you don’t want to.
But you certainly can if you do!
That’s your Quick Tip of the Week for [my] Talent Forge. Host a jam session and have a great time!
Have a good week!
