Tonight I was bored, and uninspired as to what tune I should play for tonight’s fiddle tune, so I went to Cole’s 1000 Fiddle Tunes for Ideas. I flipped through the Hornpipes, and Played Defiance, and Oriental, but neither of those seemed to suit my mood, and I have played lots of hornpipes already.
So, I flipped to the jigs, and read through a couple of jigs in the key of G, and they both seemed to have this pattern, of a low A part, and a higher, and more notey B part. And, while they were both OK neither of them really got me excited, so I started noodling around in 6/8 time in the key of G, with a lower A part and a higher – more notey B part. This is what I came up with. I named it Higgedy Jig right before I recorded it.
