Flatbush Waltz is a soulful waltz by Andy Statman, and refers to the Flatbush neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY. I learned it from Tony Ludiker, but I remember Eric LeVine telling me a story about playing it in a fiddle contest and calling it something like Black Piney Waltz because it made it sound more old-timey.
I like the soulful feeling of this tune, and the fact that it’s in G minor makes it even better. I started out the night planning on playing Cottonpatch Rag, but my sick fingers would not have it, so I went with something a little slower.
I don’t see much more to know about it.

Hi Vi, Thanks for being a trooper and playing even when you didn't feel well. Made me feel well and was beautiful.
Thanks, Francis. That was definitely one of the challenges of Fiddle Tune a Day, but the biggest challenge was realizing at 10PM that I hadn't recorded a tune yet, and going down to my fiddle room to make it happen! 🙂
