This year I’ll be teaching a couple classes on Fiddle Hell Online! Registration is now open, and includes access to all workshops, concerts and jam sessions.
Playing Fiddle with a Band – 11/5/2020 – 8:00-9:00pm MDT
Because what’s more fun than making music with your friends?! Or maybe you’ve been playing fiddle for a while now, and one of your friends is like, “Hey, we’ve got a bluegrass [or country/folk/Irish/Scottish/Western Swing/…] band; we want you to play with us!”
And you’re like, well – “I know fiddle tunes! But I don’t know what to play when I’m playing in a band…”
I’ll cover how much to play, when to play, what to play (including knowing the melody), how to complement the vocalists, how to add to the rhythm, how to support and spotlight breaks by other instruments, how to approach a new song, and more. I’ve learned most of this the hard way over time, and will provide a pdf with my notes for you to complement the workshop.
