El Sistema Fiddle Camp 2018

For the third year, Colorado Old Time Fiddlers Association and the Kaitlin Kenney Memorial Fund are sponsoring a fiddle camp for the children of El Sistema in Denver. It’s a pleasure to be a part of this event, and to share the teaching with Natalie Padilla and Cody Stadelmaier.

In a world growing rapidly more complex and difficult – politically, economically, environmentally and socioculturally, we must equip our future generations to most competently take on the escalating challenges they will face — challenges we cannot begin to imagine today. Our world’s finest minds will not only come from the privileged with greater access to opportunity and education. They must emerge from even the unlikely corners of our poorest and most destitute neighborhoods.

That is why El Sistema Colorado exists — creating the opportunity for all our children’s minds to awaken and help lead our world to a better existence.  If we are to solve the formidable and complex questions facing our world today, we must give all our children’s minds the opportunity to fully develop and contribute to the world in which we live.
