Fast Fiddle Fitness – Saturday Sept. 26, 3:00 PM
Learn to take care of your body as a musician, and get the most out of your practice time! Overuse injuries such as carpal tunnel syndrome, bursitis and tendonitis are commonplace among musicians, because we really push our bodies to the limits. We only get one body. And, we should take good care of it. Playing stringed instruments is great for our minds and our dexterity, but anyone who has played an instrument for years knows that it can also play havoc on our bodies. This workshop covers warm-ups, cool-downs, stretches, and exercises that you can do daily to take care of your body. This workshop is appropriate for all levels and instruments.
Improvising in Fiddle Tunes – Saturday Sept. 26, 4:00 PM
This workshop covers how to improvise as a fiddler in fiddle tunes. This workshop will show you how to go from playing the melody to really making a tune your own. Techniques covered include chord structure, arpeggiation, passing tones, accidentals, and more. Bring your fiddle and your questions. This workshop is interactive.
