Electric Violin Reviews Live from the Electric Violin Shop!

A couple of weeks ago, I had the pleasure to spend an afternoon at The Electric Violin Shop in North Carolina. I had a truly fantastic time hanging out with Matt Bell and the rest of the crew there. And, I got to play so many great violins!

The one electric violin that I wanted to try that they were out of stock on was the Jordan. (Oh yeah, I like the Mark Wood Viper too, but that’s a whole different beast.) They usually have a showcase full of them, but I guess it will have to wait until next time.

Trying out the violins at The Electric Violin Shop is something that you really must experience. I had no idea that there was so much tonal variety and character in different electric violins, and I really didn’t know which violins I was going to like the best.

At the bottom you will find links to my 6 favorites. And just because a violin didn’t make my top 3 (or 6) doesn’t mean you won’t like it or that it’s not a cool instrument.

If you are ever in the Raleigh Durham area, I highly recommend you visit the Electric Violin shop and try out their huge selection of electric violins. Now I just need to get one of each of these to play at home. 🙂

Vi the Fiddler plays TONS of Electric Violins for the First Time! (Livestream)

Vi “The Fiddler” Wickam flew into town from Colorado to hang and play some violins. He’s primarily an acoustic 4-string guy, but he graciously agreed to play a bunch of electric (and mostly 5-string) violins and give his impressions of each one.
