It’s the last day of Weiser, and I thought that a breakdown would be appropriate as everybody breaks down their tents and campers. What a great week. It was exhausting, and fun. I loved getting to see my old friends, and make new ones. Judging was a kick, although after the day judging the Junior division, it will be a while before I want to hear Hotfoot again.
Another Weiser is in the bag, and if you haven’t been there, you should. I don’t think I can do Weiser justice in a short typed description, but I think Tony Ludiker summarized it best , “It’s like Christmas in June.” If you love music, especially fiddle music (of any sort) Weiser is the place to be for the third full week in June.
Jonathan Trawick of Fiddlin’ Arkansas joins me for a little Dixie Hoedown, and Nikole Scribner of Fiddle TV was kind enough to perform the videography services.
I mistakenly had this tune labeled as Dixie Breakdown. Dixie Breakdown was written by Don Reno and Jimmy Lundsford, 1956.
Dixie Hoedown was written by Jesse McReynolds. Some people have attributed it to Don Reno, but this is just the same confusion that I had. If have more information about Dixie Hoedown, please let me know.

Thanks, Michael. Impromptu music with great musicians is a pleasure.
