I wrote the Colorado Waltz when I was 12 years old. That was way back in the 1980’s for those of you young whipper-snappers. I was fooling around on my fiddle, and I started playing the A Part of the song, and my dad liked it, and he wrote the B part to it. So, you could say it was a collaboration between Vi Wickam, and Vi Wickam. My mom wrote lyrics to it, and if I can get my hands on them, I will post them along with the tune.

Colorado Waltz Lyrics:
Colorado’s Rocky Mountains and the crystal blue skies
This land of treasure is surely divine
Colorado’s golden aspen and the towering pine
I love the song of the lark and the blue columbine
Chorus:
For there’s no place like Colorado
Though far I may wander and roam
There’ s just no place like Colorado
Colorado will always be home
Colorado, where a man can raise a fine family
Where the people are kind and the sunshine is free
Colorado’s snowy ski slopes, a mile in the air
There’s a beautiful view for the skiers to share
Chorus:
For there’s no place like Colorado
Though far I may wander and roam
There’ s just no place like Colorado
Colorado will always be home
Diane Massarella Diggles says
We have a full time singing ministry that travels throughout the US and into Canada. Once a year we are blessed to visit and sing in CO. The lyrics are very fitting for beautiful CO.
Vi Wickam says
Thanks, Diane. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Patrick B. Murphy says
Did you happen to notate this tune? If so, where can it be found?
Vi Wickam says
Hi Patrick. I don't have it notated anywhere at this point, but I would be willing to do a lesson on it on my Talent Forge… 🙂
Gregory A. Ludlow says
12 years old…..you were ready to go at that young age with song writing. What's your latest composition you will share on Fiddle Tune A Day?
Anders Schilling says
Neat!
Vi Wickam says
I actually wrote my first melody when I was 4. I wrote a couple of tunes during fiddle tune a day that were featured in it. One of them even made it onto my most recent album, Old School Old Time. Those tunes are: Higgedy Jig, and The Gypsy Jew. 🙂
Deborah Dea Cushman-Johnson says

Vi Wickam says
Deborah Dea Cushman-Johnson I will add it to my list of requested lessons on http://www.myTalentforge.com/ 🙂
