Hi everybody! Vi Wickam here, one last time, for your [my] Talent Forge Quick Tip of the Week!
Today’s a little bit of a bittersweet day for me. This is my last Quick Tip I’m going to give you. I’ve been doing Quick Tips for a little over two years now, and this one is going to be the end of the weekly Quick Tips.
We may put out a few more Quick Tips here and there, as I bring more teacher on [my] Talent Forge and things like that. But this is my last Quick Tip…
So I’m going to take a little more time maybe! And I want to thank you all for coming along with me on this journey, on this journey on this discovery of myself and the rest of us!
I want you to take this lesson to heart.
This Quick Tip is Become Your Own Teacher.
I’m not saying that we don’t all need coaches. Because we do!
But ultimately, when we take responsibility for our own learning process and we become the ultimate arbiter of our own learning, that’s a healthy step.
Whether it’s with music or life, or anything else you’re trying to learn. You’ve got to become your own teacher.
Which means, when you’re practicing, that you’re listening and you’re paying attention to your own mistakes so that you can fix it.
Now, you’ll still need a teacher now and then, you’ll still need help from others. You’ll still need coaching. I and the other teachers of [my] Talent Forge are here for those purposes.
But that doesn’t mean you’re not ultimately responsible for your learning. And that’s the message I want to give you is- YOU ultimately are the person who’s responsible for your learning experience.
We’re just here to help you along the way, help you along your musical path.
I want to thank you for being a part of the Talent Forge community, of the VitheFiddler.com community, and for everything you’ve contributed to me over the last couple of years!
You are all wonderful and I appreciate you!
And I’ll see you around- I’ll still be on the internet, I’ll still be doing projects. I even have a new project in the works… but I’m not going to tell you about it yet…
I’ll see you soon!
Vi, I have enjoyed your Quick Tips so much and have shared them with Julian (my now 13 year old grandson who is quite the hot violinist/fiddler himself now!). Keep on keepin’ on and someday, we will catch up again!
Your Friend and “Fan”,
Beth Reasoner (Your Beth Friend)
That’s great, Beth! Keep on keeping on!
Your fiddle friend,
Vi
Thank you Vi, enjoyed your tips and talents being shared. Looking forward to future surprises whenever you feel like sharing.
Happy Fiddling.
You’re welcome, Doug! More new things will be coming out soon!
Thanks,
Vi
Hi Vi,
Thank you very much for taking all that time to put out these Quick Tips. They’ve been very helpful and I’ve appreciated it so much. I have been my own teacher for the last two years. My primary interest lies in Classical music and I am now taking lessons from a very advanced teacher at the local college. I tried out for the orchestra in the town and hopefully, by Fall, I’ll be in. I’ll still be doing a little bluegrass since it is just so much fun. Thank you for all the help.
Deb
You’re welcome, Deb! Keep on fiddling. 🙂
Vi
Thanks Vi for all your tips. I look forward to what you have next in the making, hopefully something that involves us musicians.
You’re welcome, Judith. I’m going to create a signup to watch the quick tips from the beginning. Additionally, I’m working on a new duo project. And, I’m going to be working on improving the interface and organization on myTalentForge.com.
As always, I have a lot of things rolling! 🙂
Thanks,
Vi
