Hi, I’m Vi Wickam!
This is a [my] Talent Forge Quick Tip of the Week!
Don’t be afraid to take time to let your mind wander, let your fingers wander on your instrument.
It’s an important part of practicing to just relax and enjoy your instrument. Play around- this is playing, not working!
We don’t have to be focused on specific notes all the time. Sometimes we need to let our right brain, creative side just kind of play!
So, approach your instrument with the idea that I’m just going to play whatever comes out of my fingers. You may like it, and you may not like it.
But when you do this, you’re giving yourself permission to not be rigidly locked into a specific set of notes. You give yourself permission to play, permission to have a little fun.
And whatever comes out is fine. Whatever comes out of your instrument is good, is music, and is beautiful.
So if I pick this up, and I start playing […]. Noodle around!
Give yourself permission to play and relax and noodle!
An important part of practice is play time. So give yourself some play time!
That’s your Quick Tip this week. See you next time!
