Home in San Antone – Fiddle Tune a Day – Day 228

Home in San Antone has the sound of Texas Swing to me. And, as someone who isn’t that great with remembering the words to tunes, I kept looking online for this tune under the name “Rose of San Antone”, which kept turning up San Antonio Rose which was not what I was looking for. Eventually I remembered a string of the lyrics to Home in San Antone (not to be confused with Rose of San Antone) and yippee! I found a video of Bob Wills playing it. :)

Other than the Lyrics, all I have been able to find is that Bob Wills recorded it in 1943. If you have more information, please feel free to post it as a comment.

Anyway, I think this is a really fun tune. It’s not too hard to play, so go for it! Give me a video reply on it.

Home in San Antone Lyrics

(Floyd Jenkins aka Fred Rose)

Haven’t got a worry haven’t got a care

Haven’t got a thing to call my own

Though I’m out of money I’m a millionaire

I still have my home in San Antone

When I greet my neighbor with a hi y’all

I’m wealthy as a king upon a throne

You can have your mansion or your cottage small

I’ll just take my home in San Antone

I’m travelled o’er the country on my merry way

Been in crowds and felt I was alone

When I feel like braggin’ I just up and say

I’m a native son of San Antone

There’s a sweet somebody by the Alamo

Someday she’s gonna be my very own

And we’ll buy (Then we’ll get) a highchair in a year or so

For our little Home In San Antone
